Wood Fire Processes and Recipes
Flashing Slip
Recipe from Lisa York via Ceramics Art Network.
80% Hawthorne Bond Fireclay, 20% Nepheline Syenite
This slip recipe was thinly applied and created a great red-orange color. We fired to 2200 degrees F and cooled the kiln in reduction.
Wadding Clay
Recipe from Simon Levin via Ceramic Arts Network.
Equal parts silica sand, sawdust, and Hawthorne Bond Fireclay
The wadding created using this recipe was easy to mix and apply to each pot. It left significant markings where placed and detached from the pots without damaging them.
